Paris France, June 15th 2016, Horizon Computing Solutions, a Splitted-Desktop Systems brand, is proud to announce the launch of the first online configurator and quotation tool dedicated to the Open Hardware computing industry focusing first on Open Compute Project solutions. This tool aims to provide a clear vision of cost saving that Open Hardware can bring to its end users as well as clarify available and tested system configurations.
“Up to now rack level purchasing requires days of negotiations, with random pricing due to the lack of transparency of market players. Our clear intent is to provide the highest level of confidence to our customers, and save time to the industry, by transforming the datacenter market to a commodity one as it should be” said Jean-Marie Verdun, Splitted-Desktop Systems President. “Part of our DNA is also to sustain Open Hardware projects developments like RuggedPOD or Discovery. This tool aims to accelerate Open Hardware adoption with the benefit to provide bigger resources to design communities by reinvesting directly into new prototypes or design tools.”
Available at https://sales.horizon-computing.com , the tool is free of charge, requires registration as to provide backend support to save end user building block configurations during rack build up process. A system architect can easily define configuration at server, storage, network and rack level by mixing as many configurations as he wishes. Then he can run regular estimates (pricing is updated regularly and intend to reflect market trend) and provide feedback to his purchasing department.
As an optional feature, final system validation is performed by Horizon Computing Solutions engineers as to ensure that the potentially delivered systems will be fully functional.
The tool has been tested during a month by more than 60 selected beta users as to ensure the best reliability.
